Team Drumming & Zulu Dancing

Drumming has been part of our lives before the flame was found and Zulu dancing is part of South Africa's very prominent heritage. Learn from the drums and the rhythms to motivate and build your team from root level. Of course we need to enjoy ourselves in the work place too. Try your hand at celebrating as the Zulus do.

How does it work?

  • We will provide traditional attire to your delegates. The men will wear traditional Zulu skirts, headgear, armbands and shin garters made from cow skins. The ladies will wear Zulu material skirts, aprons and shoulder throw-overs.
  • The whole team will do 45-minutes of Interactive Dlamo (Zulu) Drumming and then another 45-minutes of Interactive Zulu Dancing.
  • During the drumming session the delegates will learn  a traditional Zulu drum beat and a traditional song, and during the dance session, the delegates learn a choreographed traditional Zulu dance and a traditional song.
  • This will end on a high note, with the company performing as a team, with enthusiasm and synergy, culminating into an event of drums and dance - an experience never to be forgotten.
  • Depending on the size of the group, we will split them into smaller groups, demonstrating the importance of teamwork, motivation, communication and group synergy.

Team Drumming & Fire Dancing

Experience the magic of a team drumming and fire dancing activity to build, motivate and empower your team. Delegates get to express themselves through drum and dance and to build trust with fellow colleagues.

Everyone plays the drum and dances with fire.

How does it work?

  • Each delegate will get a fire staff and a drum.
  • The whole team will do 45-minutes of Interactive Drumming and then another 45-minutes of Interactive Fire Dancing. (please remember to tie long loose hair up)
  • During the drumming session the delegates will learn two basic rhythms, a break and a traditional song, and during the dance session, the delegates learn a choreographed traditional fire dance.
  • This will end on a high note, with the company performing as a team, with enthusiasm and synergy, culminating into an event of drums and dance - an experience never to be forgotten.

Team Drumming & gumboot Dancing

Imagine drumming and dancing with your fellow delegates who you know in the everyday office environment at work and now get to show your ability to drum and dance as a team. Gumboot dancing was created in the mining era of Johannesburg to celebrate and entertain one another in their free time in the shebeens and social areas after the long hours of hard work underground.

How does it work?

  • Each delegate will dress into an overall and a pair of gumboots with bottle top shakers.
  • The whole team will do 45-minutes of Interactive Drumming and then another 45-minutes of Interactive Gumboot Dancing. (please remember a thick pair of socks)
  • During the drumming session the delegates will learn two basic rhythms, a break and a traditional song, and during the dance session, the delegates learn a choreographed traditional gumboot dance and a mineworkers song.
  • This will end on a high note, with the company performing as a team, with enthusiasm and synergy, culminating into an event of drums and dance - an experience never to be forgotten.

Team Drumming & Belly Dancing

Belly dancing has been in practice for centuries in the middle east. This is the perfect opportunity for the ladies of the company to perform to the drums of the men in the company.

How does it work?

  • We will provide a drum for each male and various percussion instruments.
  • Each lady dancer is provided with a shimmy belt (Eastern hip scarf).
  • We will divide your group of delegates into two equal separate groups, a drum ensemble and a belly dance troupe.
  • The drummers will learn an Eastern drum rhythm, while the dancers learn an authentic choreographed belly dance sequence.
  • For the first hour the delegates will learn their specific rhythms/dance routines, and for the last ½ hour, our head facilitator, with more than 20 years experience, will bring the teams together to perform their own industrial theatre – the ladies dancing to the rhythm of the drums.
  • Individuals will also have an opportunity to perform solo.
  • This will end on a high note, with the company performing as a team, with enthusiasm and synergy, culminating into an event of drumming and dancing - an experience never to be forgotten!
