Team Drumming

Team Drumming: up to 2000 delegates

Our team drumming programme is jam packed with many exercises that highlight communication, teamwork, synergy, enthusiasm and the importance of  having fun as a team in the work place.

Barriers like hierarchy, age, gender and race will be broken.

Your work force will be re-charged and individual and team confidence will flow stronger than ever before.

Remember that I personally  facilitate every team build and have facilitated hundreds of interactive drumming sessions with 20 years of experience to companies, schools, communities and institutions.

I'll encourage you to experience the most powerful team build in a short amount of time and I look forward to facilitating your team to reach their true potential through rhythm.

How does it work?

  • A traditional drum will be provided for each delegate (to use during the session only, enquire about our memorabilia drums that can be branded in the company’s logo and kept after the drumming session).
  • We will give you an introduction to drumming (within 10 minutes you will be able to drum together!)
  • We will teach you the very basics and two expert, authentic rhythms.
  • These rhythms will be combined with other percussion instruments.
  • A facilitator with more than 20 years experience will facilitate the group to sounding like professional musicians only if, the group communicates as a team in synchrony with great enthusiasm while having fun.

Team Gumboot Dancing

Team Gumboot Dancing: up to 500 delegates (200 with overalls) or 1000 with drumming

Gumboot dancing originated in the gold mines of Johannesburg, deep down in the shafts. The miners used the sounds of stepping together, smacking their boots, clapping their hands and dancing together to create a gumboot dance rhythm to distract them from the long treacherous hours beneath the ground and to operate as a team.

We dress each delegate with an overall and a pair of gumboots with bottle top shakers, true miners style. Our professional facilitators will teach you a few basic dance steps, which form a “gumboot dance routine”, and within minutes your delegates will be dancing as a team.

How does it work?

  • We will provide a pair of gumboots with traditional ankle bottle top shakers, mining helmets / bandanas and a one piece overall.
  • Our team of authentic and professional Gumboot facilitators will teach the group a few basic dance steps and movements.
  • We will teach you how to use the gumboots and your body to make the slapping and stomping sounds to create musical rhythm far beyond your imagination.
  • By combining these steps and movements the group builds a dance routine choreographed by our facilitators.
  • The group learns a traditional mining song.
  • Depending on the size of the group, we will split them into smaller groups, demonstrating the importance of teamwork, motivation, communication and group synergy.
  • The event ends with the entire company / group performing the sequence together, as a team, co-operating rather than competing against one another.
  • At the end of the event each delegate is motivated and experiences a sense of achievement.

Team African Dancing

Tribes throughout the world practice dance rituals to celebrate all occasions and ceremonies, such as births, harvests, worship and unions. Dancing and singing to the rhythm of Africa was used to create a sense of unity, motivation, physical and mental well being in the tribe…’

All delegates will dress up as a tribe or team; the men will wear leather skin skirts, a headband, knee garters and armbands and the ladies will wear an African material skirt, apron and shoulder wraps.

Our experienced and professional dancers will teach your team a basic Zulu dance sequence purely by working, communicating and thinking as a team. The event always culminates to a great sense of celebration.

How does it work?

  • We will provide traditional attire to your delegates. The men will wear traditional Zulu skirts, headgear, arm bands and shin garters. The ladies will wear Zulu material skirts and shoulder gowns.
  • Our team of authentic and professional Zulu facilitators will teach the group a few basic dance steps and movements.
  • By combining these steps and movements the group builds and dance routine choreographed by our facilitators.
  • The group learns a traditional Zulu song.
  • Soon you will know the whole dance sequence. The group performs the choreographed dance to the beat of the Zulu drums, known as Dlamo drums.
  • Depending on the size of the group, we will split them into smaller groups, demonstrating the importance of teamwork, motivation, communication and group synergy.

Team Belly Dancing

Team Belly Dancing: up to 100 delegates or 200 with drumming

Belly dancing has its origins in Egypt, Eastern and Middle Eastern nations. Its benefits are both mental and physical - dancers will learn concentration and specificity as the dances require the movement of particular muscles.

Belly dancing focuses on connecting with the feminine and therefore would be a great event if they could dance to the rhythms play by the men in their company.

How does it work

  • Each lady dancer is provided with a shimmy belt (Eastern hip scarf).
  • A team of professional belly dance facilitators will get your team communicating and dancing as a team.
  • The delegates learn an authentic choreographed belly dance sequence.
  • The team is then divided into smaller groups to perform their sequence to the other groups.
  • This will end on a high note, with the company performing as a team, with enthusiasm and synergy, culminating into an event of dancing - an experience never to be forgotten!

Team Fire Dancing

Fire dancing is a group of performance arts or skills that involve the manipulation of fire. Fire dancing typically involves equipment or other objects made with one or more wicks, which are designed to sustain a large, enough flame to create a visual effect.

Experience the magic of a team fire dancing activity to build, motivate and empower your team. Delegates get to express themselves through dance and build trust with fellow colleagues.

How does it work?

  • We will provide a fire staff with a burn wick on each end to each delegate.
  • Each burn wick is covered with a ribbon sock for practicing.
  • Our facilitators will teach your delegates a few basic dance movements like the “Weave” and the “Butterfly”.  In both instances, you are required to spin, twirl and handle the staff next to and in front of your body.
  • By combining these steps and movements the group builds a dance routine choreographed by our facilitators.
  • When the facilitator is confident that everyone is able and ready, we remove the ribbon socks, dowse each wick in a bowel of paraffin and light the wicks on both ends of the fire staff.
  • The team performs the choreographed dance with the staffs burning on either side.
  • Each delegate must face their fears, hold their own and trust their colleagues while communicating and performing in synergy.
  • Depending on the size of the group, we will split you into smaller groups, each group performing to the other!
  • The event ends with the entire company/ group performing the sequence together, as a team, co-operating rather than competing against one another.
  • At the end of the event each delegate is motivated and has experience a sense of achievement.
